The
Chamber responded to requests
for help from women
who were involved in hairbraiding
on the Negril Beach. With
assistance from the USAID,
booths were placed at strategic
points along the beach with
permission from property
owners. The President of
the association, Mrs. Janet
Irving Salmon, is a Director
of the Chamber.
Recognizing
the need to facilitate
the upgrading of micro
business, the NCC
worked with street vendors
to form the Negril Itinerant
Vendors Association. The
USAID, in partnership
with the Negril community,
provided funding for the
erection of a 55 shop
plaza for the relocation
of street vendors and
the accommodation of micro
businesses.
